Now is the time...

This life, right here right now, is your time for "choosing".

Will you choose "yourself", and all that this world has to offer you (both pleasures AND struggles), or will you choose to "surrender" yourself to Christ and live a life of obedience to God? You are free to make this choice. That's how God wants it, as He doesn't desire slaves, but rather faithful servants who are willing to carry out His will here on Earth.

Howevever, with this choice comes consequence. If you choose the things of this world, you are putting yourself ahead of God. What does that say to Him? It says, "I can do just fine on my own. I know what decisions are best for me and, quite frankly, I don't NEED you." If you're telling God you don't need Him during this time of choosing, then why would He think you'd want a relationship with Him for all eternity when this life is over? Answer: He wouldn't. God will honor your decision, not only now, but forever in fact, unless you repent and ask for His forgiveness. Have you thought about what a billion lifetimes would be like in the "absence" of God? I wouldn't even want to ponder what a world would look like where evil was left unchecked by God's goodness. A world without love. A world without light. A world where only despair and regret remain.

Not my world (thank you Jesus).

On the other hand, by choosing to make God your focus in this lifetime, you are telling Him that you DO desire a relationship with Him, both now and forever! You're saying that you acknowledge His love for you. A love so great that He sent His only son down from heaven to suffer and die for the forgiveness of your sins and to provide you a path to salvation. You're saying that you CAN'T do it all on your own and that you NEED His help in this life.

What does this choice require of you? Asking. Just asking Jesus to come into your heart and begin to guide your NEW life with Him at the center. A NEW life where you'll want to love others as He has loved you. A NEW life of spreading the "good news" to all those you encounter who are still struggling in darkness and unbelief. A NEW life where, once completed, you'll enter into an eternity of unimaginable joy with your Heavenly Father. This, all because of the choice you are making today.

Sounds like a pretty good "life" to me.

Don't let today, nor anything in your past, get in the way of making a choice to follow Jesus my friends. This is by far the most important "choice" you'll ever (and I do mean EVER) make .

"If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10: 9-10)

Here’s what I don’t get from this post. Full disclosure, I used to be Christian and now I’m Buddhist.

So in this God is a narcissist. And you describe him as having a human characteristics.
Also God is an all-knowing God, you said if we don’t choose God in this lifetime God will think that you don’t want him for eternity, if he is all knowing then he should know if we ever call out to him.
Also you say something about acknowledging his love for me. Which means no matter what I choose he loves me. It’s just up to me to recognize it. If he loves me, why would he send me to a hell for eternity because I didn’t worship him on my 75 years of life. It just doesn’t make any sense.
Also nothing about this post is backed by actually Biblical text.

Thanks for the comment Noah.

God created us to have a relationship with us and for His good pleasure. When we rebelled against Him (and sin began) that didn't change either of those things. Yes, God does love you which is why He sent Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins and provide you a path to salvation by believing in Him.

I do not believe (though obviously only He knows this) hell to be the fire, brimstone, and full of non believers being tortured by demons as has been handed down throughout the ages, but rather what I described here...the "absence" of God. As I stated in this piece, if God honors your free will to not accept Him over your 75 years, and you die, why would He force you to be in His presence afterwards? That was "your" choice, plain and simple. As it says in the Bible, He wants no one to perish, but each of us has that ability to choose. It's not somehow God's fault if we denying Him til our deathbed.

At "any time" someone can cry out and repent brother (even with your dying breath if it's coming from your heart), but the other point I'm making is living a life in a relationship with Christ here on Earth is also a darn great way to go through life as well! ;-)

All my discussion is scriptural based Noah and I'd be happy to parcel it out in verses if you'd like (many of my other pieces I do reference verses so check those out, but I felt led to do this one without the specific references). Faith is a journey as you're finding my friend. It sounds like you've gotten sidetracked, but hey, that's part of YOUR journey! No two will ever be the same. And what can he viewed as bad by some, God will turn around and use for your own good and ultimately for His glory.

God is still pursuing you brother. I pray you stop running and let Him in. ♥?♥

Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." John 14:6
